Dr. Yusuf (J.P.) Saleeby, MD

Dr. Saleeby is a 1991 graduate with a medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta Georgia. Upon completion of post-graduate training at East Carolina University School of Medicine in Greenville, North Carolina, he relocated to Savannah, Georgia to practice emergency medicine.  Dr. Saleeby has practiced medicine since 1992 outside of training and is licensed in the states of Georgia and South Carolina, Virginia and North Carolina.  From 2000 until 2006 he was appointed as co-medical director of the Emergency Department at Liberty Regional Medical Center, Hinesville, GA.  In 2007 he took over as the medical director of the Emergency Department at Marlboro Park Hospital in Bennettsville, SC.  He held post as occupational physician at the Juliet Gordon Low Federal Building's Federal Occupational Health center for 6 years while in Savannah.

 

Dr. Saleeby received training in anti-aging medicine through association and membership with the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M) and the American College for the Advancement of Medicine (ACAM). Dr. Saleeby founded the Saleeby Longevity Institute in Savannah, GA, which served the Lowcountry and surrounding area from 2000 until 2004.  Dr. Saleeby practiced anti-aging and longevity medicine with a focus on prevention and oversaw a staff acupuncturists, nutritionists, a naturopath, several massage therapists in an integrative medical center.

Dr. Saleeby also founded VSN (www.vitasanus.com) in 1998 thus formulating a line of nutraceuticals for his anti-aging practice.  This company was sold in late 2006 to another healthcare provider. He also held a post as adjunct professor in the Graduate School of Nursing at Georgia Southern University, Statesboro, Georgia.  Currently he serves on an advisory board for American Fitness magazine and the Aerobic & Fitness Association of America (AFAA).

Dr. Saleeby is a regional speaker on topics of integrative and preventive medicine and has been published widely.  He writes medical and health related articles for regional and national journals (JIVE magazine, Enigma, Tea Experience Digest) and maintains a blog on healthcare issues.

The journal American Fitness regularly publishes articles and he is the health writer for a tea journal. He has been quoted in the New York Times, Cortlandt Forum and on regional TV and radio stations. He published his first book in print in early 2006 entitled “Wonder Herbs: A Guide to Three Adaptogens” available on online bookstores and his web site.

He is lucky to have two beautiful children Michael and Madison, and shares adventures with wife Sharon. He is an avid wine collector and is experimenting with wine making. Dr. Saleeby had also participated in Olympic style Weightifting with Team Savannah for several years and has earned top place finishes in his 94Kg Masters group at the Georgia Games and Team Savannah Open competition in 2002 & 2003 and took the Silver Medal in the 2004 Senior Master Nationals.
